Marching Band Uniforms
As a member of the Valencia High School Marching Band, each student is required to wear a specified uniform, fitted for them during band camp, to all designated events, including home football games and field shows. In addition, each band member is required to meet certain appearance requirements for performances, as stated in the Marching Band Uniform Contract.
Uniform Change from Contract: Band members are required to wear SOLID BLACK, CALF-LENGTH SOCKS as well as a SOLID BLACK UNDERSHIRT under their uniform (this has changed from the previously stated white undershirt).
At Marching Band Competitions Band & Color Guard members need to make sure to bring their “FIELD SHOW” Spirit Shirts and their Band Jackets. This is what they wear when they are not in uniform.
All formal performances require a basic black “uniform.”
For young men: a black tuxedo or suit with a white collared shirt and a black bow tie. In addition, they must wear black dress shoes (many student wear their marching shoes) and black socks. Many parents have used a source for tuxedos in San Diego called Tuxedo Discount – (619) 239-7027. They sell retired styles of “rental” tuxedos – for $99 you get a 7-piece tuxedo (jacket, pants, shirt, bow tie, cummerbund, cufflinks & studs). After shipping to your home & tax the approximate cost is $120.
For young women: a black knee-length dress; or a skirt or pants suit with a white or black shirt/top, and black dress shoes. All attire requires sleeves – NO bare abdomens, NO bare shoulders, etc.
